Buwan ng Wika & Friendship Day
Bohol Deaf Academy celebrated Buwan ng Wika and Friendship Day on the 31st of August.
Buwan Ng Wika, or National Language Month, is observed in August to foster the promotion of Filipino language and culture. At BDA, our students were all given the opportunity to show off their amazing Filipino attire. It was fascinating to see our students dressed in various creative baro’t saya and barong designs, as well as cultural clothes resembling those worn by indigenous people. Congratulations to Prince and Sophia, who stood out among the students and were awarded Best Dressed for carrying themselves with grace and confidence! The Cymatics Performers also performed a folk dance directed by their new teacher/choreographer. It was their first performance since the pandemic when our students didn’t have in-person classes.
Aside from that, students had the Patagisan ng Talino (Quiz Bee), in which their knowledge of the Filipino language and culture was examined. They also had a fantastic time playing some of the traditional Filipino games such as Patintero, Tumbang Preso, Takyang/Sipa, and Slipper Game.
The students prepared for Friendship Day in the afternoon by dressing in their casual attire. The venue was filled with energy and excitement as they were hyped up for their dance performances. They then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon enjoying their wonderful meals and each other’s companionship!
It was certainly an eventful Thursday for our BDA students and teachers, but joy and excitement were evident on their faces!
