Bound to Soar High

BDA Senior High School Graduates

The past two academic years were unlike anything that our deaf students experienced before. Usual activities and interactions have been thrown into disarray because of the pandemic. However, our students overcame many adversities and chose to pursue their dreams.

It is our great pride that we had 14 senior high school graduates and 19 junior high school completers at Bohol Deaf Academy (BDA) this last May 20, 2022. This was especially remarkable since it was the 1st time after two years that we were allowed to hold a graduation ceremony and we have the 1 st batch of BDA senior high school graduates. It has been eight years since the Department of Education in the Philippines introduced the new K-12 program and BDA started implementing it two years ago.

BDA Junior High School Graduates

On behalf of the graduating class, senior student, Marjorie, sincerely thanked IDEA for building BDA and for helping them to continue with their education. The ceremony was also graced by Nilo Bacolod, a BDA alumnus, who was the event’s guest speaker. He has been working as a baker in a five-star hotel in the Philippines for 12 years now. His achievement is a testament to IDEA’s effort in empowering deaf individuals and a great inspiration for our graduates to dream big.

IDEA’s goal has been to eradicate illiteracy among the Deaf and empower them to become productive members of society. We couldn’t be more proud to have another set of graduates, and we’re eager to see them soar high!
